Darlington has a unique and historically rich Main Street complete with a boulevard with many properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These beautiful historic structures are thriving with commerce, and the downtown offers unique shops, restaurants and lodging.
This community of nearly 2500 is also the Lafayette County seat, and the Lafayette County Courthouse with its Tiffany glass rotunda, copper and marble fi xtures, and fountain is a symbol of pride for the community. Darlington, rich in history, is also a community with all the amenities one would hope for while still maintaining a charming small town atmosphere.

Recreation

Pecatonica River Trails Park, a City maintained campground, offers 24 sites of river front camping. 18 of the sites have electricity access. Adjacent to the campground is the 2.15 miles of the paved Pecatonica River walking/ biking trail that follows the River through town. The Pecatonica River itself is great for fishing and canoeing.

Darlington also boasts a public swimming pool open daily June through August, and four public parks with picnic facilities and playground equipment. Yellowstone Lake State Park is only 15 miles from Darlington and offers fishing, boating, camping, swimming. For the golf lover Darlington Golf & Country Club offers 9 holes of action, and within a one hour drive
you will find another dozen golf courses of varying size and difficulty. community with all the amenities one would hope for while still maintaining a charming small town atmosphere. The Cheese Country recreational trail, offers the ATV enthusiast over 50 miles of scenic trail connecting Monroe, Belmont and Mineral Point. Darlington also provides access to
trail riders to our downtown businesses and campground facilities.

Attractions

Darlington offers something for everyone, unique shopping and dining opportunities of our business district, the excitement of our summertime Friday night stock car races, an old fashioned county fair complete with livestock and a midway, or the opportunity to take in the beautiful scenery via foot, bicycle, canoe, horse, ATV or car. Darlington plays host to the annual Canoe Fest in June every year, the Lafayette County Fair in July, Pecatonica Valley
Antique Days in September, Holiday Open Houses in November and an annual Holiday
Parade the first Saturday in December.
